Caribou, Watch Out!

Tuesday was Alaska Day, so we court employees got the day off. Judge Devaney and I boated 105 miles in search of caribou. We went up the Kwethluk river, past Kwethluk village. We saw one caribou carcass and a lot of beavers. But no caribou. But the season is still young.
We did get some nice views of the tundra and of three step mountain. Three step definitely has snowboarding potential.
By the way, boating is NOT a fuel efficient endeavor! We used 35 gallons of gas. Yes, it stings.
