In a high scoring shootout, the Bethel Warriors beat the Houston Hawks 44-41. The boys and girls both won, so it was a great season opener. That's basketball, in case the picture (or score) misled you into thinking it was darts. And that's Houston, Alaska, south of Denali. To get here, the Hawks drove 2.5 hours south, to Anchorage, then flew 400 miles west, to Bethel.
Speaking of shootouts, the newest addition to our abode is an automated trash-talking dart board. Genevieve is turning out to be quite a dart player, so we're working on a hustle routine just in case we're ever short on cash in the big city. It reminds me of the good old ski-bumming days back in Utah. We spent a lot of time throwing darts back in the SLC MTA's. It was a great way to blow off steam after a tough day of modeling.

Tonight it's perfectly clear out and a brisk
-9 (-29 with wind chill). We decided to enjoy a moon lit snowmachine ride. The moon shadows on the tundra are quite dramatic, as is the moon-bow, a sort of rainbow effect around the moon. Unfortunately, capturing that with our digital camera for the blog is beyond our technical expertise. You'll just have to take our word for it... it's beautiful.
Big adventures are on tap for the weekend. We'll bring the camera.
